SYCOMORE, TREE
The sycomore tree is the sycomore-fig, a large lowland tree that produced small figs and useful timber. It grew especially in warmer regions of Palestine and Egypt, and Amos worked as a nipper or dresser of its figs.
Biblical Usage
The tree appears in accounts of abundance, timber, and the lowlands. Amos was a nipper or dresser of sycomore figs. Jesus passed a sycomore in Jericho when Zacchaeus climbed it.
