Swine
Swine, including the wild boar, were considered unclean and were forbidden as food under the Mosaic law. In the New Testament they appear in the accounts of the Gadarene demons and the prodigal son, and as a figure of moral uncleanness.
Biblical Usage
Swine’s flesh was forbidden and its consumption was regarded as an abomination. The New Testament mentions swine in the account of the Gadarene demoniac and in the parable of the prodigal son. Swine also serve figuratively for what is unclean, worthless, or lacking discretion.
