SPIRITUAL GIFTS
Spiritual gifts are abilities and ministries granted by the Holy Spirit for the service and strengthening of Christ’s church. Scripture lists gifts such as teaching, prophecy, healing, miracles, leadership, helps, tongues, and their interpretation, while indicating that the lists are not exhaustive.
Biblical Usage
The New Testament lists these gifts in several passages, and none of the lists is exhaustive. Prophecy serves the believing church through edification, exhortation, and consolation; teaching explains established doctrine; and practical gifts minister to the church’s needs and advance the gospel.
