Spirit
Spirit may mean wind, breath, the life-principle, the human inner self, an angel or demon, or a moral disposition. In its highest biblical use it refers to the Holy Spirit, the divine Person active in creation, revelation, and redemption.
Biblical Usage
Scripture speaks of the human spirit as the life-principle and as the seat of thought, feeling, will, and moral character. It also speaks of angels and demons as spirits and of the Holy Spirit as active in creation, revelation, human empowerment, redemption, and sanctification. God Himself is described as Spirit.
