SON OF GOD, THE
“The Son of God” is a title applied in various senses to angels, Israel, kings, and believers, but in its fullest New Testament sense it identifies Jesus Christ as the divine Son, equal with the Father and worthy of faith and worship.
Biblical Usage
Jesus accepts the title when others apply it to Him and speaks of God as His Father and Himself as the Son. The title expresses His intimate knowledge of the Father, authority over all things, and place with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Believers also receive sonship through faith.
