SIGN
A sign is a mark, act, or event that identifies something or demonstrates a truth. In Scripture, signs often attest divine power, confirm a prophet’s or apostle’s commission, or point to God’s purposes and saving work.
Biblical Usage
Signs include the plagues of Egypt, the miracles of Jesus, prophetic and apostolic credentials, visions, covenant memorials, and sacramental signs. They attest divine commission, confirm God’s message, and point to His saving work. Scripture also indicates that faith should not remain dependent on signs.
