Shimei
Shimei is the name of several Israelites, especially the Benjamite who cursed David while he fled from Absalom. David later spared him, but Solomon ordered his death after he violated the conditions of his pardon.
Biblical Usage
The best-known Shimei cursed and attacked David while David fled from Absalom, then sought pardon after Absalom’s defeat. David spared him but instructed Solomon concerning him. Solomon later ordered his execution after he left Jerusalem in violation of the condition imposed on him. Other Shimeis served among the Levites, singers, temple workers, and tribal families.
